The first year of algebra is a prerequisite for all higher-level math: geometry, algebra II, trigonometry, and calculus. Researchers have found in multiple studies that students who take more high-quality math in high school are more likely to declare science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors in college. Students who take Algebra II in high school are also more likely to enroll in college or community college. Algebra can lead to many new opportunities for success in the 21st century. What’s more, when students make the transition from concrete arithmetic to the symbolic language of algebra, they develop abstract reasoning skills necessary to excel in math and science.
Algebra is a field of mathematics. Usually, students in high school or elementary will be the first ones who will experience this subject. Most of them will say that it is probably one of the hardest and complicated subjects there is. Well, anything that is connected to Mathematics could really be. When someone will say the word Algebra out loud, numbers and equations will immediately pop into ones mind. What they do not usually know is what and who and how Algebra started. A brief history of Algebra will be read in this article, to understand why and how and who started Algebra in the first place.
Sometimes it can seem hard work studying algebra. Hopefully at least some of the reasons below will help convince you that it is worthwhile in the end! Algebra will help you in your career, The fact is that you can’t get a good grade in your mathematics GCSE without some algebra. Getting a good math GCSE opens up more career choices, access to college, university and some apprenticeships. If you study algebra beyond GCSE all the evidence shows that A-level math and mathematical degrees help you earn more than you would otherwise.
